Boston Globe has labeled athenahealth as one of the Top Places to Work for 2020. The Global Magazine recognized one hundred and fifty companies as top workplaces based on their employee surveys. The list was published in the magazine and online and highlighted employers that stood for humanity during the pandemic, best in leadership, and employee-centric culture. athenahealth was featured on the Top Largest Employers in Massachusetts list that included companies with more than 1000 employees. It was ranked # 19.

Private and Public Organizations with more than 50 employees were on the list. After seeing the number of positive responses this year, the Globe decided to expand the winners’ list from companies to 150. It ranked the ones who got better during the COVID-19 crisis as the best companies.

The Boston Globe joined hand with Energage, an employee research and consulting company, to conduct anonymous employee surveys considering aspects, such as overall execution, direction, management, connection, play and benefits, work, and engagement. athenahealth is proud to be on the list for the seventh time.  

  1. athenahealth Unified with StirdeCare to Enhance Patient Care

athenahealth signed up for a technology migration during the COVID-19 crisis to improve patient outcomes and workflow efficiency. On November 17, 2020, the leading provider of network-enabled services for health systems announced its partnership with StrideCare, the largest podiatric group in Texas, to improve practice efficiency, patient care, and financial outcomes. The partnership is intended to help StrideCare streamline provider workflows, enhance care coordination, and meet quality measures by utilizing Athena health’s cloud-based solutions for medical billing, electronic health records, care coordination, and patient engagement.

Ever since the partnership, athenahealth’s system has improved StrideCare’s referral process and care coordination because physicians can now be managed within one system. It has also helped StrideCare in adhering to the MIPS quality program, improving the overall level of care the healthcare organization provides to patients.

  1. Athena health Launched 2 EHR Dashboards to Track COVID-19 Test Results

Athena health launched two COVID-19 EHR dashboards on March 31, 2020. They track the number of lab tests ordered by clinicians and identify high-risk populations. These two interactive dashboards utilize data from their providers to identify the geographic areas of patients likely to get the virus.  The data gathered by the dashboards is used by the COVID-19 Healthcare Coalition, a group of technology firms, healthcare organizations, startups, nonprofits, and the academic community that aims to lessen the spread of coronavirus disease. Athena health’s clients also use it to make careful decisions on COVID-18 testing and medical delivery systems.

The first dashboard deployed by Athena health is the COVID-19 lab test dashboard. It provides users with a map that displays the number of lab tests ordered by clinicians on the Athena health network. This dashboard additionally breaks down the data on a state-by-state basis across the country. Second, there is a COVID-19 high-risk populations dashboard that identifies high-risk patients across the country. This dashboard separates patients prone to get the virus by age or health risks. Users can see the areas with the most high-risk patients.

Athena EMR fared well in 2020 Best in KLAS EHR Awards. The EHR vendor remained above its peers and won the Small Practice Ambulatory EHR award for ten or fewer physicians.
