10 Ways to Deal with Anxiety and Stress

3 mn read

We all go through anxiety and stress because of several reasons. Maybe you’re upset on the career front, family, relationships, friendship and the list goes on. Sometimes we stress over little things that can be overlooked. Maybe you’re the kind of person who overthinks a lot and stresses yourself.

See the following 10 stress-relieving tips that will work for you.

1. Meditate

Doing meditation every day for a few minutes can help relieve stress. According to experts around the world suggest that daily mediation alters the brain’s neural pathways, making you more flexible towards anxiety.

Meditation is an easy practice. Sit straight with both feet on the floor and close your eyes. Direct your attention on chanting “I love myself” or “I feel at peace”. Any positive mantra would work here. Place one hand on your stomach to sync the mantra with your breaths. Say goodbye to all your thoughts.

2. Breathe intensely

Whenever you feel stressed, take a break for 5 minutes and concentrate on your breathing. Sit in an erect posture, close your eyes, hands on your abdomen and slowly inhale through your nose. Feel the breath that starts in your abdomen and work its way to the top of your head. Then reverse the process as you exhale through your mouth.

Experts suggest that breathing intensely or taking deep breaths slow the stress that impacts your heart rate and reduces blood pressure.

3. Stay alert

Relax. Calm down. This may sound weird but just for 5-minutes focus on your behaviour with awareness. Observe how the air feels on your face when you’re walking and how your feet feel when you hit the ground. Enjoy the texture and flavour of each bite of food.

When you spend time at the moment and concentrate on your senses, you should feel less anxious.

4. Connect more

Social network plays an integral role in our lives. It is the best way to deal with stress and anxiety. Talk to your dear ones in-person or on call, whatever is suitable. You can get a new perspective while maintaining your connection strongly.

5. Attune into your body

Thoughtfully scan your body to understand how stress affects you each day. You can either rest on your back, or relax with your feet on the floor. Begin with your toes and work up the way your head, seeing how your body responds.

For at least 2minute focus on each breath flowing to a particular body part. Repeat this process as you shift your focus upwards, paying close attention to sensations you sense in every body part.

6. Decompress

Place a heated wrap around your neckline and shoulders for minimum 10minutes. Close your eyes and relax your face, upper chest, neck, and back muscles. Remove the wrap, and use a sports ball or foam roller to press away tension.

All you need to do is place the ball your back and the wall, and lean onto the ball. Hold a gentle pressure for 15seconds. Then move the ball to another body location.

7. Laugh loudly

When you truly laugh loudly from the belly, it eventually helps you reduce mental stress. It helps to lower cholesterol, boosts brain chemicals (endorphins) and lower body’s stress hormone. When you have less stress, your mood automatically becomes happy. Feel delighter by chatting with someone, watch videos, read comics, and more.

8. Listen music

Experts around the world suggest that when you listen to soothing music it can help you lower hate rate, blood pressure, and anxiety. Have a separate playlist of songs or nature sounds like chirping of birds, the bubbling ocean and more. This will allow your mind to focus on several instruments, melodies or singers.

9. Move around

Practicing exercise is one of the best ways to control stress and anxiety. That doesn’t mean you need to run around. Practice yoga or join a gym, zumba, aerobics whatever you feel like is of your interest. You can also walk around in the evening. It eases depression and anxiety as the brain release feel-good chemicals.

10. Be thankful

It is important to be thankful every day for what you have. It also creates less stress and anxiety. Make it a habit to thank god everyday for whatever you have, whatever you are and wherever you are.

In the end…

Still, if you have difficulties in coping up with stress, it is better consult the best therapists in London and get a proper solution.
